Delete your account

How to permanently delete your DukaDawa account and what happens to your data.

Option 1: Delete from inside the app (recommended)

  1. Sign in to DukaDawa on the web or the mobile app.
  2. Go to Settings → Delete Account (or open /dashboard/delete-account directly).
  3. Confirm your password and type DELETE to confirm.
  4. Tap Delete my account. You will be signed out immediately and your account will be marked for permanent deletion.

Option 2: Request deletion by email

If you cannot sign in, send a deletion request from the email address associated with your account to dukadawa@afyaintelligence.co.tz. Include your full name and the phone number registered on the account so we can verify ownership. We will respond within 7 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days of verification.

What gets deleted

  • Your name, email, phone number, and profile photo
  • Your login credentials and session tokens
  • Push-notification device IDs (OneSignal subscriptions)
  • Personal preferences and saved drafts
  • Any user-generated content tied solely to your account

What we keep — and why

Some records must be retained to comply with Tanzanian tax, pharmacy, and accounting law, or to protect the rights of others:

  • Sales invoices, receipts, and tax records — retained for the period required by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (currently 5 years). These are anonymised: your personal identifiers are removed but the transaction record remains.
  • Pharmacy stock and inventory records — retained as required by the Pharmacy Council of Tanzania.
  • Audit logs — retained for up to 12 months for security and fraud investigation, then deleted.
  • Backups — encrypted backups are overwritten on a 30-day rolling cycle, after which the deleted data is no longer recoverable.

Deletion is permanent

Once your account is deleted you will lose access to all pharmacies, sales history, and customer records linked only to your account. This action cannot be undone.

If you own a pharmacy on DukaDawa

Account owners must first transfer ownership of any active pharmacy to another registered user, or close the pharmacy, before the account can be deleted. The app will guide you through this. If you need help, contact us at dukadawa@afyaintelligence.co.tz.

Timeline

  • Immediately: account access revoked, you are signed out.
  • Within 30 days: personal data removed from production systems.
  • Within 60 days: personal data purged from encrypted backups.
